‘Concerto’ is a work that involves a food processor that grinds earth pigment in to a fine powder; subsequently (through the feed tube) the residue escapes into the air.
For this work I excavated soil, sandstone and other ground substances... from the site that is now Nottingham Contemporary. I pour into the food processor some of earth's material... I switch on the blender and allow the mixture to become powder... the material begins to transform to a fine dust... the dust is permitted to escape into the air through the 'feeder tube'... the radio is tuned to white noise... the sound is lost to the blending cacophony.
